Privacy Policy

UrbanTenants is a listing and discovery platform that connects tenants with room/PG owners. We collect a limited set of information needed to operate the platform, personalize your experience, prevent fraud, and — where enabled — show relevant advertising through Google AdSense.

Information you provide directly:

• Name, email address, and phone number when you register or contact a landlord
• Login details when you sign in via Google OAuth
• Property details, photos, and videos submitted by landlords/partners when listing a room
• Messages, reviews, ratings, and support queries you submit
• Payment-related identifiers when you use Razorpay or Cashfree for optional paid services (we do not store your card or UPI credentials — these are processed directly by our payment partners)

Information collected automatically:

• IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited
• Approximate location (city-level or precise, only if you grant browser location permission) to show nearby listings on our map
• Cookies and similar identifiers, as described in Section 3

UrbanTenants uses Google AdSense to display advertisements on the Platform. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to UrbanTenants and/or other sites on the Internet
• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings
• You may also opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info

• To create and manage your account, and connect tenants with landlords
• To show nearby and relevant room/PG listings based on your location
• To send booking confirmations, updates, and support responses
• To detect and prevent fraud, spam, and misuse of the Platform
• To improve our services through aggregated, anonymized analytics
• To display relevant advertising through Google AdSense, which helps us keep the Platform free for users

We work with the following categories of third-party service providers, each of which processes limited data on our behalf under their own privacy policies:

• Google (AdSense, Analytics, OAuth) — advertising, site analytics, and secure sign-in
• Cloudinary — hosting for listing photos and videos
• Razorpay & Cashfree — secure payment processing for optional paid features
• Render — cloud hosting infrastructure for the Platform
• Brevo — transactional email delivery (e.g. account verification, notifications)

We do not sell your personal information to any third party. We only share data with these providers to the extent necessary to operate the Platform.

Your data is stored on secure, encrypted infrastructure. We use industry-standard practices such as HTTPS encryption in transit and access-controlled databases to protect your information.

While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
• Request deletion of your account and associated data at any time, free of cost
• Opt out of personalized advertising (see Section 4)
• Withdraw location permission at any time through your browser settings

UrbanTenants is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. The "Effective" date at the top of this page indicates when this policy was last revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
